50SS Tournament Gamerworld Faux 03.05.2015 - Round 1

Today we had a 50SS tournament with fixed Faction/Master rule and for this occasion I decided to use my trusty Viks to show who are the toughest chicks in the town :D

We have played 3 rounds so let's start with:

Game report - 03.05.2015 50SS tournament - Round 1

Viks (daniello_s) vs Lady J (Gavin)

Deployment: Flank Deployment
Strategy: Interference (Gaining Grounds 2015)

Schemes: ALITS, Assassinate, Breakthrough, Outflank, Power Ritual

Gavin brought:

Lady J (7SS pool) - Badge of the Office,
Justice Unleashed, Implacable
Sammael - Witch Hunt
Judge - Vengeance Bullet

2x Death Marshal

Witchling Stalker
Pistolero de Latigo

I took:
Ash Viki (5SS pool) - Sisters in Spirit, Sisters in Fury, Synchronized Slaying
Blood Viki - Mark of Shez'uul, Oathkeeper
Malifaux Child
Freikorps Librarian - Oathkeeper
Vanessa
Bishop - Scramble
2x Void Wretch

Gavin picked Power Ritual (revealed) and Assassinate.
I picked Power Ritual and Outflank (bot not revealed).

Table we were about to play was looking this way:

Viks deployment:

 Lady J deployment:

Turn 1
As usual turn 1 was spent on movement and dropping scheme markers for Power Ritual in our own corners.
I moved Ash, Blood, Librarian and one Void Wretch to my left flank where also Lady J, Judge and Death Marshal were heading.

Bishop and second Void Wretch moved along my right flank to meet Sammael, Death Marshal and Witchling Stalker.

Upkeep phase - no VP points for either side Score after turn 1: Viks 0 - LadyJ 0

 Turn 2

Death Marshal and Judge advanced and shot Ash but thanks to Defensive Stance and hard cover she laughed off those efforts. Judge tried also to cast Stand for Judgement but she simple answered: why? :D
In the meantime Malifaux Child successfully casted Sisters in Fury...
Then Ash activated, called Blood in front of her, run away to be 6'' from her Sister and additionally buffed her with Sisters in Battle.

And when Ash did that, Blood chain-activated, burnt Oatkeeper and charged Judge so she was also within 2'' from Marshal. Poor guys couldn't sustained this kind of beating and were brutally slain.
With her last AP in the hand Blood jumped behind the gate (we played this gate always opened) in puny effort to avoid Lady J's revenge ( I should go for Defensive Stance to be honest...).

Unfortunately Lady J was able to charge her anyway.
First swing wasn't too brutal and some damage was prevented. Second swing I was able to cheap equal so with -- modifier for damage I was sure Blood will survive. Of course bad things happen in Malifaux and Lady J flipped 3x severe damage. Blood was dead, really dead.

In the meantime Bishop dropped second scheme marker for Power Ritual on the right flank and Void Wretch was heading towards him to support. Death Marshal, Sammael and Witchling Stalker came closer to Bishop as well. Stalker dropped another scheme marker 6'' from the corner.

Upkeep phase after Turn 2 - Viks +1VP point for strategy;  Lady J +1VP point for strategy; Score after turn 2: Viks 1 - Lady J 1

Turn 3

Witchling Stalker came from around the corner to tease Bishop but he didn't catch the bait as Sammael was lurking on the other side of the building ready to shoot and cast Burning on Bishop after he kills Stalker and gets Burning condition.

Because Viks could out-activate Lady J they were happy to wait with Bishop to activate last.
Lady J ducked behind the building, Sammael too. Marshal went around to flank Void Wretch supporting Bishop.
And because the first round of tournament with delay we were made aware taht this is ouur last turn.
So Librarian burnt Oathkeeper and double walk to be within 3'' from corner on my left flank and dropped scheme marker for Power Ritual. Void Wretch (for fun). made Lady J slow)
Finally Bishop charged Stalker and killed it, then he moved to be within 3'' from corner on my right flank.

Upkeep phase after Turn 3 - Viks +1VP point for strategy, +3VP for Power Ritual, +2VP for Outflank;  Lady J +3VP for Power Ritual

Final  Score: Viks 7 - Lady J 4

I was really happy after the game. I knew Lady J is a melee monster and didn't really want to fight with her in close combat especially when Assassinate was in the pool and my Ash would simple vaporized :D

Bishop was another star of the game terrorizing Sammael, Stalker and Death Marshal. Also Librarian turned to be unexpected VP runner - she allowed me to get +2VP thanks to Oathkeeper.

Round 2 report to follow shortly...

  1. Nice report.

I think you were probably right to try to hide with Vik of Blood after killing Judge and the Marshal; Lady Justice's melee stat is too high to easily dodge even with defensive stance.

It seemed to me that your opponent went very defensive in the final round, even though they probably could at least have engaged Bishop to sop him heading for the corner.
