Game Report 30.09.15 50SS Jack Daw vs Von Schill

Game report - 30.09.2015

50SS Jack Daw (daniello_s) vs Von Schill (John)

Deployment: Standard Deployment

Strategy: Turf War
Schemes: ALITS, Breakthrough, Bodyguard, Cursed Object, Make Them Suffer

John brought:
Von Schill
(7SS pool) - The Shirt..., Tally Sheet, (not sure if it was this one but I think it was) Survivalist

Freikorps Trapper
Freikorps Librarian
4x Freikorpsman
Hans

I took:
Jack Daw (4SS pool) - Twist and Turn, Writhing Torment, 3x Curses
Jaakuna Ubume - Creeping Terror
Nurse
The Guilty
The Hanged
Hans
Rusty Alyce

John picked: ALITS (he forgot to revealed it) and Bodyguard (Hans)
I had: Bodyguard (Alyce) and Make Them Suffer

Plan for a game: use The Hanged extensively to cast Whispers from beyond around to counter the healing, drag enemy models using Jaakuna into open and then finish them with Jack and Rusty. Rusty would provide safe 'no charge' zone for my crew.
Also I wanted to check how Hans would perform with Jack Daw using Tormented shenanigans.

Table setup

and crews deployment

Turn 1

Von Schill and his gang went aggressively towards center of the table.  Von Schill shot The Guilty hurting him for 3 damage.
I tried to to set up an alpha strike on enemy Hans - torment my Hans, activate, push, focus shoot and kill but my initial hand was dramatic (7 was highest card) even after burning a soulstone.
So I moved moderately towards the centre and tried to cast Whispers from beyond on Trapper but it bounced off. Also luring the Trapper with Jaakuna was unsuccessful.

Upkeep phase - No VP score by either side; Score after turn 1: Jack Daw 0 - Von Schill 0

Turn 2

Von Schill and Freikorpsman fired at The Guilty despite him being in the soft cover - this ulitmately denied me a VP point for Startegy this turn. Rest either attacked me or dropped scheme markers for ALITS
In return Nurse paralysed Trapper, Jaakuna lured him. Then due to my poor control hand (again) and miserable attack flips it took a combined effort of The Hanged, Jack and Rusty to kill the Trapper (Rusty made a kill) which game +1VP for Make Them Suffer.

Upkeep phase - Jack Daw: +1VP Make Them Suffer; Von Schill: +1VP Strategy; Score after turn 2: Jack Daw 1 - Von Schill 1

Turn 3

Von Schill almost killed Rusty (she had to prevent the damage to stay at the last wound). Rusty had to run away into the cover. Nurse paralyzed Freikorpsman, then Hanged used Whispers from beyond on him. That allowed Jack to charge and finish the guy leaving the last AP to move within 6'' of the centre of the table.
Von Schill's gang dropped more scheme markers.

Upkeep phase - Jack Daw: +1VP Make Them Suffer, +1VP Strategy; Von Schill: +1VP Strategy; Score after turn 3: Jack Daw 3 - Von Schill 2

Turn 4

Jack charged and killed Freikorpsman. Then Librarian and other Freikorpsman opened fire at Jack and soon Von Schill follow with his charge. He hit once (SS burnt to add + flip on attack to avoid negative flip form Jack's Oldest Magic), then he hit again - Red Joker on damage with Ram on attack was enough to put Jack down.
Nurse fully healed Rusty then my Hans focused and killed enemy Hans.
At the end of the turn I declared Bodyguard on Rusty.

Upkeep phase - Jack Daw: +1VP Make Them Suffer, +1VP Bodyguard; Von Schill: +1VP Strategy; Score after turn 4: Jack Daw 5 - Von Schill 3

Turn 5

Hans focused and killed Librarian.
Both Freikorpsman charged The Hanged dropping him to last wound (Red Joker on damage again with negative flips...). Von Schill moved, cast Finish the Cur on Freikorpsman who killed Hanged and the he shot Hans in the hard cover - negative flips on damage - 2x severe... Hans said goodnight...
I moved Jaakuna and Rusty towards table centre. Nurse tried to cast Take Your Meds on Schill - no success.

Game ended on this turn.

Upkeep phase - Jack Daw: +1VP Strategy, +2VP Bodyguard; Von Schill: +1VP Strategy, +2VP ALITS ; Final score: Jack Daw 8 - Von Schill 6

Few notes about Hans after the game.
He killed enemy Hans and Librarian this time so he removed 15SS from the game and probably would kill more if Von Schill wasn't so lucky with flipping double severe on negative damage flips.
Is Hans worthy hi points? In Jack's (and possible in Hamelin's) crew I would say, yes. Otherwise I would recommend to grab second Trapper :D

Till next time!
