50SS Jack Daw (daniello_s) vs Nicodem (Mike)

Deployment: Flank Deployment

Strategy: Reconnoitre
Schemes: ALITS, Bodyguard, Breakthrough, Plant Explosives, Cursed Object

Mike brought:
Nicodem
(7SS pool) - Maniacal Laugh, Necrotic King, The Undertaker

Philip and the Nanny
Mortimer - My Favourite Shovel, Corpse Bloat
Nurse
Chiaki the Niece
2x Rotten Belle

I took:
Jack Daw (4SS pool) - Twist and Turn, Writhing Torment, 3x Injustice
2x Drowned
Nurse
Papa Loco
The Guilty
Jaakuna Ubume
The Hanged

Mike picked:: ALITS and Breakthrough (both announced)
took: ALITS (announced) and Plant Explosives

My first game with Jack Daw as my master. I knew I had slim chances to win this, not with Nico run by experienced player like Mike but I stood to my resolution of playing Jack for next couple of games, no matter of Strategy and Schemes pool. As my friend used to say: No pain, no gain :D

Table setup:

Deployment. Nico was deploying first so he chose to deploy in the graveyard - true Necrotic King :D

Turn 1
Mike split his crew in two: Philip, Nurse, Chiaki and one Belle moved along his right flank, rest towards centre and left flank. Of course until the turn has ended, Nico summoned Punk Zombie and The Hanged
Again it was now a game of my 50SS against Resser almost 70SS - nothing new...

I moved Guilty, Drowned and Hanged along my  left flank and the rest was hiding close the building at my deployment zone.
I tried to score quick 3VPs by luring Mortimer, Belle and Punk Zombie towards Jaakuna and granting Papa Loco +2 Walk from Nurse and dropping scheme marker close to lured opponents models but due Mortimer's Chatty ability I could only effectively lure 2 models (Mortimer and Belle).
At the end of the turn Hanged Paralyzed Papa Loco which was very sad and I claimed +2VP for Plant Explosives.

Upkeep phase - Jack Daw: +2VP Plant Explosives; Score after turn 1: Jack Daw 2 - Nicodem 0

Turn 2

Guilty and Drowned pushed towards end of the table and started to drop scheme markers there. Philip, Nurse, Chaiki and Belle moved towards them. Nurse Paralyzed Guilty.

In the meantime there was much happening closed to the centre point of the table.
Nico and his crowd pushed strong towards Jack and his Tormented band.
I decided to lure Nicodem as close as possible to my models so I lured him twice, hit him with Jack's attack and 'granted him' Drowning Injustice, attacked him with Drowned and lured him again getting extra damage for Hazardous Terrain.
Nico decided to summon as much as he could - new Punk Zombie and The Hanged joined the party... 50SS vs 84SS... That couldn't end nice for my poor Jack... Thankfully Nicodem had to spend 3 stones for damage preventions and left on 2 wounds left and 4 Poison (my Nurse was busy as well).
I tried to force Papa to use his exploding self-destruction attack with Jack's Twist and Turn - Black Joker disrupted all my plans.
Freshly summoned Punk Zombie moved and flurried Jack - I was left on 8 damage left.
Then I made a huge mistake - I moved Hanged from left flank towards the Jack and the whole party club. I should really and truly support Guilty and second Drowned attacking Nurse and Chiaki.

Also I didn't position myself correctly so I lost point for Strategy this turn.

Upkeep phase - Nicodem: +1VP for Strategy; Score after turn 2: Jack Daw 2 - Nicodem 1

Turn 3

I won initiative! Yay!
Jaakuna lured Belle closer to the Papa Loco and then Papa chain activated and used his activation to die in glory but he also claimed with him: Nicodem, Hanged, Mortimer and Belle. I was able to cheat/flip successfully  for Defence flips on nearby Drowned and Nurse.
Unfortunately Punk Zombie left on last wound so he flurried again on Jack and was able to kill him (I burn all soulstones for prevention flips but it wasn't enough). That was very sad to me...
Drowned finished Punk Zombie. Other Punk Zombie positioned himself to drop scheme marker for Breakthrough. I moved Nurse around the building to negate this Scheme Marker later.

On the other flank Philip started his dance and turned my scheme markers into Corpse Markers. In the meantime Guilty and Drowned attacked Philip but didn't do much damage. Chaiki dropped scheme marker for ALITS. My puny efforts to attack Chiaki with Hanged was unsuccessful (such a bad flips I had during that game hardly ever happened to me before). By this time I knew game is lost.

Upkeep phase - Nicodem: +1VP for Strategy; Score after turn 3: Jack Daw 2 - Nicodem 2

Turn 4

There wasn't much I could do by now. Guilty died from Philip's hand. Drowned hit Philip. I dropped a marker on the centreline with Hanged and moved another Drowned towards centreline. Belle and Punk Zombie dropped scheme markers for Breakthrough.

Upkeep phase - Nicodem: +1VP for Strategy; Score after turn 4: Jack Daw 2 - Nicodem 3

Turn 5

More scheme markers dropped by Nico's crew and I was able to drop a scheme marker with my dying Drowned.

Upkeep phase - Jack Daw: +1VP ALITS; Nicodem: +1VP for Strategy, +3VP ALITS, +3VP Breakthrough

Final Score: Jack Daw 3 - Nicodem 10

Few insights after the game:
- playing Jack Daw is soooo different than playing my other Outcast masters but it brought me much fun
- I haven't fully utilized The Hanged nor Jack himself. Next time I'll try to do it better :D
- Papa Loco is so crazy and well positioned can do a lot of damage.
- One Drowned I think is enough although again I haven't used them fully I think that game.
- Playing against Ressers is less and less funny especially when you realize with each round they grow their numbers with very potent models (Punk Zombie, The Hanged) and you are hopelessly outnumbered... No wonder why Wyrd granted as with Leveticus - at least that guy and successfully cope with them. Maybe well played Viks can do it as well but not as great as Mr Steampunk Necromancer himself :D

Till next time!
